San Francisco is known for its fuzzed out psychedelic rock and roll and one of my favorite local bands pushing that agenda is Burnt Ones. They've recently put out their new album You'll Never Walk Alone on Burger Records. I've got it and it's pretty good. Here's an example:
Tony Molina has been super busy lately. Tony, who was perhaps the primary impetus behind one of my personal favorite local bands, Ovens, recently released a solo record called Dissed And Dismissed which is eleven minutes of guitar solo awesomeness. He was, until recently, the guitar player for Violent Change and on top of everything else, is the singer for hardcore band Caged Animal. Check out his new video for Don't Come Back.

I'm posting this video for Dance Dance Dance Dance Dance To The Radio by M.O.T.O. because, you know, I feel like it.
Today I've got the new video from Wax Idols for When It Happens off their latest record Discipline And Desire. Wax Idols played a couple of record release shows recently here in SF and down in LA and the record is getting some pretty stellar reviews. Things are blowing up for those ladies, go and listen to it for yourself.

This is a great video from Midday Veil for Great Cold Of The Night. Also, checkout Archers' Guild, the website I stole it from.
It's National Pi Day today. A day when smart people giggle at how clever they are for making up National Pi Day. In the spirit of trying to update this website every once in a while I give you the video for Bag from Vancouver's White Lung. They're playing SXSW this year, but then again a lot of bands are.
Local band Golden Void have a new video for their song The Curve out along with an upcoming European tour. Catch them March 1st at Benders with DSTVV.

I just saw DSTVV play with Warm Soda and Cocktails the other night and I was super impressed. I had no expectations regarding them so I was pleasantly surprised. They also have a bizarre website, which is cool.

Warm Soda is the new musical project from former Bare Wires frontman Matthew Melton. When I found out that Bare WIres had broken up, or combusted live on a SXSW stage last year rather, I was a little bummed because they were a favorite of mine. But now that there is Warm Soda I can see a light at the end of the tunnel. They're playing at The Hemlock with Cocktails this Friday so get out of your house and do something!
Alright, first post of the new year. Where to begin?
My band Rosa Grande is playing at Elbo Room on February 20th, for more info just click on the flier in the side bar to the right. Also, I've got a new regular DJ night every Sunday at The Bigfoot Lodge! I'll be spinning all your butt rock favorites mixed in with rad bands that you may or may not have ever heard of before and whatever else I feel like laying on the wheels of steel. So come hang out and let's make Polk Street cool again!
Lastly, here's the new video for Moody Michelle from Lenz. Lenz is Andy Human's (from The Cuts) new band and they are rad. They just had a record release last wednesday at The New Parish in Oakland but fear not, you can see them play again Friday February 1st at Cafe Du Nord with Hot Lunch who will be releasing their new album (finally) as well. See you guys there!
Hey y'all. I'm hard at work putting together some shows for next year, I'll let you know about them as they develop. In the meanwhile check out this rad band from Germany called Kadavar. They're on Tee Pee Records which is just a great record label that put's out a lot of my favorite bands, go to their website and download their free 2012 sampler. Anyway, this is the video for Goddess Of Dawn.

I made this flier for Scott Alcoholocaust for a show he's got coming up soon at The Knockout later in December. I'm pretty happy with it, it's the first one that I've actually drawn in a while.
I'm learning how to play this song on my synthesizer and I've got it stuck in my head constantly lately.
PS: David Lee Roth is a maniac. Seriously, he's a danger to the community.
Only You is an LA band featuring the song writing talents and voice of the lovely Rachel Fannan. She used to live here in SF and at one point was doing back up vocals for Sleepy Sun. If you get a chance, go see this all girl juggernaut of a band play live, they are damn good, and not in some novelty all girl band sort of way. Good songs, good musicianship, good stuff. Here's the video for Applying Myself.

I saw a Birthday Party cover band called SexBatVampireSex featuring members of Burnt Ones, The Mallard, and Wax Idols play a basement show last night. Here's a live video of them doing Nick The Stripper. It's pretty cool.
Check out this pretty cool video from White Mystery called Rapid Overdrive. This band is from Chicago but they're here in town doing a bunch of shows in Oakland and The City. Check them out today at IndieMart with Uzi Rash and others.

Here's a video from New York's Naam. There's a pretty sick black pyramid amplifier stack featured in this thing and some good ole fashioned occult imagery which always gives me a hard on. The song is also good. Behold.

Fuck you September! You are dead and gone! It's now officially ROCKTOBER and it's going to last FOREVER!
To celebrate here's a new video by one of my favorite local bands, The Symbolick Jews. This video rules, it looks great, the song is awesome, my panties are totally wet. I can't praise this band's song writing enough, so I'm not going to bother. Haven't heard much from them lately, what with these kids working on their various side projects and such, like The Myonics and Hafner. But they are back in full affect with a righteous new single. Go to their thingy and buy their new thingamajig. Check out their video, let it speak for itself.
